Global Intranet "The Hub"

Highlights: Built a complete intranet system start to finish. Created multiple custom web-apps to automate key workflows. Trained 8 administrators across the organization to make sure content and structure stayed relevant

1. Design

Established core information architecture, taxonomy, policy and workflows as the foundational elements of the completed intranet.

2. Migrate

With a team representing each critical departement, we found and uploaded the most important, mission-critical content onto the new platform. This, in turn, helped us further refine the information architecture to conform it to real content.

3. Train

Developed training experiences and worked with key leaders to drive adoption organization-wide, about 1,000 users across 14 countries.

4. Maintain

Worked closely with a "Hub Admin" in each department to identify needs and keep department sites current on a day-to-day basis. We automated some important document life-cycles to make sure content stays relevant without much human intervention.

5. Extend

Created custom apps for specific departments including Human Resources, Finance and International Programs. Finally, we integrated Yammer to provide a vibrant social component over time.

Overall Structure

Our primary achievement was establishing an online platform that became the primary source for organizational knowledge across all departments and offices of World Relief. With such a vast range of content, we knew people would struggle to find what they needed. For that we established a comprehensive taxonomy and tagging system for all content, and allowed people to browse in two major ways: TYPE OF RESOURCE and DEPARTMENT OWNERSHIP. Combined with standard keyword SEARCH, we tested this simple structure on new hires to get insight on how to make it better. We were able to update the system on the fly based on their feedback and experience, creating a continuous learning feedback loop that would help us adapt into the future.

Promotional Email

Highlights: Designed and sent multiple promotional and informational emails to ten's of thousands of people on behalf of World Relief, and worked with data technicians to keep the database up to date.
